SQL on Fire
Charles Lewis is a Sr. Certified Executive IT Specialist with more than 31 years of IBM experience. He has broad
experience as an application developer and database consultant. He has worked extensively in DB2 application design,
capacity planning, and performance tuning. Charles currently works with the IBM East IMT Extended Technical Team
as a DB2 Advisor for System z where he helps customers plan and implement DB2 Version 8 and DB2 9 for z/OS.
"DB2 Performance... What's your Strategy?"
Do you have the people, tools and processes in place to routinely review your DB2 environment to ensure it is
performing optimally? Or does DB2 performance take a back seat in favor of other priorities until you get a phone
call, text message or e-mail indicating there is a DB2 performance issue? Do you have service-level agreements or
performance targets in place which clearly establish when you have a DB2 performance issue? This presentation
will help you understand how to establish a DB2 performance baseline and develop a monitoring and tuning strategy.
"DB2 9 for z/OS Migration Planning and Experiences"
This session will share customer migration experience, including lessons learned, surprises and pitfalls. It will provide
hints and tips, address some myths, provide additional planning information and details on new enhancements.
